I'm still doing this, just been busy

Been a few days so detail may be lacking...(and possibly even mixed up or wrong completely)

Saturday 27th June

The Producers - More Mel Brooks, I think the idea of it being so absurd to have a Hitler musical would've been more impactful years ago, but by now he's been parodied mucho. There's a number of good moments here but alot of downtime with jokes that only got maybe a smirk from me.

Angels With Dirty Faces - I want more movies from this genre. 1940's gangster films where people talk slick and quick and everybody's a wiseguy. Cagney's a likeable but flawed character and that ending is real cool.

Sunshine Cleaning - A real quirky movie. Odd yeah but in a fun way and a good amount of humour here, though the ending here seemed a bit flat to me with the plot progression seemed a little generic (Rise, Fall, Rebirth bleh). Charming film though.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels - It's Steve Martin again! But he's not some nice guy this time oh no. Great funny film (particularly the setup for main portion of the bet). Bit predictable ending that is a bit flat but entertaining characters throughout the movie make up for it.

Sunday 28th June

Planes, Trains & Automobiles - It's more Steve Martin! Some of the humour seems a bit dated (two men having to share a room oh gosh!) but if you wanna see Steve Martin curse someone out then this is the movie to see. Got the vibe this would be a good family film (except for the whole cursing tirade of course) to watch around the holidays, and a sweet ending too.

Wednesday 1st July

The Pink Panther - Not the Steve Martin version. I expected it to be funnier, alot of the dialogue was smooth but it wasn't funny. Som good slapstick in places but I've seen the 'quick hide' gag done before so that scene was a bit dull to me. The last 20 minutes though are really really good from the party onwards so glad I stuck with it. Think it'd get better on 2nd viewing.
